The Athenaeum

Opened in 1881, the Athenaeum Hotel is one of the oldest continuously operating hotels in the United States. Overlooking Chautauqua Lake, its grand Victorian architecture and rich history have made it a centerpiece of the Institution’s charm and hospitality for over a century.

Welcome party

For guests choosing to spend Friday night in Chautauqua, join us after our rehearsal dinner for welcome drinks to kick off our wedding weekend.

Ceremony

A short 2-minute walk* from the hotel, follow the brick pedestrian path through the Chautauqua Institution campus to begin the day's celebrations.

4:30 P.M. - 5:30 P.M.

Cocktail hour

Head back to the hotel and meet us on the Athenaeum patio for cocktail hour overlooking the lake.

We'll take the party inside the Athenaeum Hotel for our adults-only reception - we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

The weekend

Details

PARKING

Guests with cars can unload directly in front of the hotel, then use the valet services for a round-trip fee of $17, or park in the South Lot at the top of Janes Avenue. The South Lot is a five minute walk from the Athenaeum.

DRESS CODE

Cocktail attire. A suit or a dress shirt with a tie is suggested. A midi- or knee-length dress or dressy separates are also welcome.

ACCESSIBILITY

The Athenaeum is equipped with accessible rooms and should be requested when booking. A wheelchair ramp to enter the hotel is available on South Terrace.

*The ceremony venue is a short walk along a brick pedestrian-only path, but transportation can be made available for guests with mobility impairments. Contact Maya or Joel to help arrange that.
